PageSnip at work - Snipping part of a page
PageSnip makes it easy to gather web content.
If your on a website and want to snip the entire page, all you need to do is right-click your mouse and select the “Add Page” option from the PageSnip menu.
This is a great feature and it works well, but it is really not making the most of PageSnip.
If you are gathering specific content from a page (such as an article) then you really don’t need or want the banners, navigation or advertising.
This example will gather a snip from Dynamic Drive - a popular web resource for web designers. You can visit their website here:
Dynamic Drive DHTML code library
Visit Dynamic Drive for free, original DHTML scripts
and components, all of which utilize the latest in DHTML and JavaScript technology!
Since we only want to snip responsibly - we visited their web page to see what the terms of use were for their scripts. The page looks like this:
Now we would like to snip the terms of use for our records - but we do not need all the banners or page navigation - so we will use PageSnip’s “Add Selection” mode to gather only what we need.
We simply take our mouse and highlight the portion of the web page we want:
Then we right-click (with the mouse pointing over the highlighted text) and click the “Add Selection” option on the PageSnip menu.
PageSnip then gathers our “selection” (in this case the highlighted HTML) and the resulting snip looks like this:
No banners, navigation or anything else other than what we wanted! Also since we used the “Add Selection” method, the HTML formatting was retained.
All that remains now is to file this new snip and associate it with our Dynamic Drive SnipList:
Then when we look at the Dynamic Drive SnipList in the PageSnip Manager, our terms of use are easy to find whenever we need them!
If we display the filed snip - we see only the snipped content that we wanted to gather.
PageSnip makes it easy to gather the content you want - without the things you don’t want!
PageSnip Professional Edition makes it easy to find what you snipped!

Our thanks to Dynamic Drive for using them in our example (they really are a great resource) and as always, snip responsibly. Before you snip web content or share a snip with friends - be sure to check out the terms of use and make sure you are playing by the rules.
