PageSnip - Print and Save the Web!

PageSnip at work - Filing a Snip in the Professional Edition

When you step up to PageSnip Professional Edition - you gain the ability to “File” your snips and use them later. This is an important part of the program and one that can mean a lot to you.

Need To File?

PageSnip makes it so simple to gather snips that you can easily acquire a lot of them. PageSnip Standard Edition is really designed for the “Snip it and use it” sort of person, but if you want to store snips for long term use and be able to find them easily - then PageSnip Professional Edition is the one for you.

Filing your snips into the PageSnip Manager allows you to enter your own Meta data (Page Title, Description, Tags (keywords) that get stored along with the data automatically gathered by PageSnip (such as the Date, Time, URL and Type of snip). This data all becomes a part of your own fully searchable knowledge base.

You can also associate your snip with an unlimited number of “SnipLists” (groups of similar snips). This makes it easy to find an article or snip in more than one way.

“Filing a snip”

In this example - we are going to “File” a full page snip that we gathered from the well known web designer resource: Dynamic Drive - a popular web resource for web designers. You can visit their website here:

After our snip is added to the PageSnip Assistant all that we have to do to file it is to select it and click the “File” button.

PageSnip Assistant "File" button

When you click the File button in the PageSnip Assistant PageSnip automatically adds the snip information such as the Date, Time URL and Type of snip. It also automatically creates a page title (based on the snip information). In this example we clicked the down arrow icon to move that to the description and added our own page title.

Next we add our own keyword and associated this snip with two “SnipLists” (you can add these as needed and use as many as you want).

SnipLists are very useful because they allow you to group related items together so thatyou can find them easily.

Filing a Snip

After you have filed your snip, you can use the SnipList to find it in the PageSnip Manager:

You can also search for it with the Fuzzy search (which searches the text from the snip as well as your Meta data (title, description tags/keywords):

Searching for filed snips

Our Fuzzy Search results show us the snip we filed:

If we had used the Web Style search, then only the content of the snip is searched and our search result would have been this:

Web Style Search Result

The Web Style search shows us the context where our search term was used within the snip.

After we locate our snip with any method we can display it again and it is ready to use!

Our thanks to Dynamic Drive for using them in our example (they really are a great resource) and as always, snip responsibly. Before you snip web content or share a snip with friends - be sure to check out the terms of use and make sure you are playing by the rules.
