Like the old saying goes, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.
There are times when you really like the layout of some web content as it is presented with HTML and you don't want it to change at all when you snip it.
There are also some sites that are put together in such a fashion where snipping the content does not work well.
Sometimes you also just want to take a quick snip to paste into an email or another program as an image.
PageSnip has a built-in screen capture tool No need to stop and load a separate screen capture program!
To access it - just right-click your mouse in the web browser to get the PageSnip menu:
Then select the PageSnip Screen Capture option.
After a second or two - your mouse cursor will turn into a "+" (crosshair).
Click and hold the mouse as you drag out a rectangle around the area of the screen that you want to capture.
When you release the mouse, PageSnip will capture that part of the screen and will add it to your PageSnip Assistant.
PageSnip gives you MORE...
Unlike most screen capture programs - PageSnip will also store the URL where the screen capture was taken - along with normal snip data such as the date and time. You can use the Snip Information button to return to the URL where you captured the screen content at any time. PageSnip also stores the URL back to where you took the snip in a generated HTML page where the snip was taken.
Here is an example where we captured a segment of the EZRound home page.
Also there are some sites (such as a Google satellite map view - thanks Google for this great service!) where the content is presented in a control that you can not print or easily save because it displayed in pieces (for a faster download).
Hint: The last screen capture is automatically held on the Windows clipboard - so you can PASTE it directly into the body of an email or another program such as Microsoft Word.
Here is a Google Map Satellite view of the GooglePlex - LOTS of brilliant people work there!
PageSnip makes it easy to gather and manage information like this - even though it is not in HTML format.
Hint: when you want to capture a control that will not allow you to access the right-click menu (such as over a Google map), move your mouse off the control and over to the edge of the web page where you CAN access the right-click menu. Then start the capture.
