When PageSnip starts, it runs minimized in the Windows System Tray (look for the green icon with the scissors in it).

When you click the icon, the main PageSnip menu appears:

The Main Menu is your gateway to PageSnip functions.

Below are screen shots of each button and a summary of what they do:

Clicking this button opens the built-in web browser.

PageSnip includes a built-in web browser that you can use to surf the Internet. All of the PageSnip functionality is available in this browser. You can use this browser to do your snipping or create your PDFs of web pages, or you can use the Context Menu extensions that PageSnip automatically adds to Internet Explorer.

Click here for more information on the PageSnip integrated browser.

Clicking this button opens the PageSnip Assistant.

When you snip content from the Internet, it goes into a temporary storage area managed by the PageSnip Assistant.

From this area you can use the snip. This includes Printing, Saving or creating a PDF, Editing or adding Snip Notes to it. You can Delete snips that you no longer need, get information about where and when the snip was taken, see the files saved with the snip and visit the original website again. There is also an option to File snips for long term storage with the PageSnip Manager.

Click here for more information on the PageSnip Assistant.

Clicking this button opens the PageSnip Manager.

PageSnip makes it easy to gather content from the Internet. But getting the content is only half of the battle. Being able to find something that you have snipped is just as important as being able to snip it. PageSnip Manager lets you file snips in an organized fashion so that it is easy to locate at a later date. You file snips with your own Page Title, Description, Keywords (tags) and other information automatically gathered by PageSnip (such as the date, time and URL).

The text from a HTML snip is also extracted and PageSnip makes it easy to do a full text search to find exactly what you are looking for.

Snips are organized into "SnipLists" (groups of related items) and a snip can belong to multiple lists without being duplicated on your hard disk.

The PageSnip Manager makes it easy to file your snips with all the information you need - and locate them again when you want them. Then you can Print, Save, Create a PDF, Edit or Delete the snip and the SnipNotes that are stored with it.

Click here for more information on the PageSnip Manager.

Clicking this button opens the PageSnip Drag/Drop and Paste window.

Most people who use PageSnip will use the Context Menu extensions (right-click menu) inside Internet Explorer, or they will use the built-in PageSnip web browser. However other users will want to use an alternative browser that does not yet have PageSnip extensions (such as FireFox, Opera or Safari PC). Sometimes you want to snip a page or create a PDF and the URL is in a document, spreadsheet, database, or some other program.

The Drag/Drop and Paste window makes it easy to do this. All you need to do is drag a URL from another source and simply drop it on this button (or open the window if you want to paste a URL). Then you can click a button to snip the page or create the PDF.

Tip: This feature can also be used to rescue the content you want to snip in case you have been surfing and accidentally crossed some web page that used a script to disable the right-click menu (where you access the PageSnip commands). Many times Internet travelers cross a site where right-click is prohibited and a script disables this feature in your browser (often without warning). It is annoying to have to close your browser, restart it and navigate again to the page where you want (and are allowed) to snip. While it is less convenient to drag the URL here (or copy/paste it via the Windows clipboard) it is still faster than restarting your browser.

Click here for more information on the Drag/Drop and Paste feature.

Clicking this button hides the PageSnip Main Menu and returns the program to the Windows System Tray.

One of the nice things about PageSnip is that it is always ready when you are. It sits quietly in the System Tray and as long as it is running it is available for use either from the Main Menu (by clicking the icon) or by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+P. It is also only a right-click away inside Internet Explorer.

When PageSnip starts, it automatically adds the PageSnip commands to the Context Menu (right-click) in Internet Explorer. When you close PageSnip, these menu options are removed from Internet Explorer. This keeps you from thinking that there was a problem with the commands if you tried to use them when PageSnip was not running.

Note: If you start a session in Internet Explorer and PageSnip is not running, then the commands are not available in Internet Explorer until you start PageSnip - then restart Internet Explorer.

By default PageSnip starts with Windows and this is the suggested mode of operation.

That way PageSnip is only ever a right-click away while your surfing the Internet.

PageSnip's Main Menu window also has a pulldown topline menu.

Under the File selection you see these options:

Exit - this option will close PageSnip and remove the PageSnip commands from the Internet Explorer Context Menu

Note: During the startup or shutdown cycle of PageSnip, the System Tray icon will turn red and the balloon tooltip will indicate the status.
