Snip Information
Previous  Top  Next

When you snip content from the Internet, PageSnip automatically gathers and stores information about where and when the snip was taken. This information helps you remember where the snip came from (important if you are doing web research) and it also makes it easy to return to the URL where the snip was taken.

You can access this information by clicking the Info icon.

The Snip Information screen looks like this:

The information displayed on this screen is:

URL - the location where the snip was taken

Snip Date - the date the snip was taken

Snip Time - the time the snip was taken

Snip Type - the type of snip

PageSnip has different modes that can be used to capture information in different ways.

The Snip Types are:

·HTML - the snip is captured with HTML formatting (this is the "Add Selection" option on the context menu)
·TEXT - the snip is captured with HTML formatting, then the text is extracted by PageSnip (this is the "Add Text" option on the context menu)
·PAGE - the entire page is downloaded and saved (this is the "Add Page option on the context menu)
·IMAGE - a image is captured (this is the "Add Image" option on the context menu that appears only when the mouse pointer is over a image)
·CAPTURE - this is a screen capture of a user selected area (this is the "Screen Capture" option on the context menu)

Automatic Browser Detection

PageSnip attempts to automatically locate all of the standard web browsers that are installed on your system.

If it is unable to locate any of them - then a "No" icon will appear on the button instead of the program icon .

clip0155
If you know that you have the browser installed (perhaps in a different location) or you want to download the missing browser, click on the icon of the missing browser button and PageSnip will show a window like this (Safari PC shown here):

clip0156

When you click the "Locate" button, PageSnip will display a screen like this:

clip0157
You browse to where the filename shown is located and click the Open button.

Then PageSnip will remember where to find that browser and it will be available in the Information screen.

If you don't have the browser installed - then you can click the download button to be taken to the website where you can download the browser you selected.

Note: You will need to follow instructions from the website and installer to correctly install the browser you download as such information is beyond the scope of this help file.

If you don't find or select the filename for the browser then you will see this screen:

and the browser will still not be available on the Information screen.
